Hi just looking for advice from any builders out there.
I am knocking an old house and building a replacement house 40 metres behind it.
In total the new house is 80 metres from the water mains at the road.
Can construction firms run there own pipe in a trench down to the water main or do Irish water insist on themselves doing it, just a bit worried irish water figures on there website would make it work out at 27k .

Will the 80m of domestic water main be in your property on the customer side of the water meter? If so you/your contractor will need to lay the pipe, the Irish water regional contour will do the connection to from the main to the meter and your pipe to the meter.

    Std 01 details the situation

    Hi kieran,

Thanks for the reply, yes the original water main is at the access gate of the property and the 80 metre pipe would be running from that gate up through my property to the house.

The builder will do it for you, irish water will deal with anything outside your bounds

If there is a water connection already in your property (servicing the existing house) i cant see why you cant just add length to that without Irish waters involvement at all
