Mirtazapine weight gain

I have an eating disorder and depression and am on prozac for this. My psychiatrist has also prescribed me mirtazapine for night time to help me sleep and not get up to binge eat at night. However, upon reading horror stories of weight gain and carb cravings I feel it to be counter intuitive to prevent binge eating...

Anyway my question is has anyone been on this medication and not had weight gain and if you did gain weight, was this due to increased appetite/lack of energy for exercise or just unexplained?

Remember googling treatments and or medications usually brings up the worst case scenarios, discuss realistic pros and cons with your doctor

These meds are well known to cause weight gain. They give you an appetite. Your Psychiatrist knows this.

I have a history of disordered eating, including binge eating. I can only speak from my own experience, but I take Mirtazapine and it has not caused any carb cravings, or further episodes of binge eating. I have not gained weight while on it.
