My girlfriends car fails to start every morning since the cold weather. Battery tested okay on OBD2 scan tool, Alternator is good and the car runs fine once its jumpstarted. Looking at a replacement battery and went to check the one in the car now. I noticed the rated CCA on it is 260. Even the bog standard replacement has a CCA of 330. Would this help the car start on cold mornings or are there other factors at play. Car starts fine when its not freezing out.

The higher rating wont hurt anyway.
Is it thats its turning too slow to start currently or is there possibly another issue with starting from cold.

It turns over quite slow anyway takes about 2-3 seconds before the engine starts even in warm weather. In the frosty mornings when she tries to start it theres a faint click and that's all the battery has, after that absolutely nothing when the key is turned to ignition. Theres a battery with 340 CCA and 40Ah which is a big improvement from the 260CCA and 36Ah currently. Hopefully that's the issue

Certainly seems like battery is poor. Just be sure thst the one you get physically fits in the car.

Hope so, it's only a 10 minute job to swap them out. All dimensions are the same. Picking up the high performance one from Micksgarage. For some reason it states in the product description that its automatic transmission. The car is manual. Throws me off a bit but I'm sure it's the right fit for the car and voltage is the same

Probably originally had the higher spec battery in automatic versions but as long as it fits, it will be fine.

I know its now on order, but for batteries I would typically go to nearby motor factors. I bring a toolset with me, remove old battery, bring it inside and they give me new one. There are lots of physical variants such as height and width, but also round or square terminals and where they are located. 50% of batteries have opposite terminals and wires won't reach correct location.
If local parts store are quiet they might fit if for you.

If battery is too big or small it may not fit the holder.
The auto lookup based on car registration used at the likes of micks garage are often wrong, as there may be lots of variants not considered. Its OK 95% of the time.

With the lockdown Mick's garage returns can only be made by post (not in person), and an post return shipping cost for a battery might make no sense.

In terms of an ODB battery tester, they may not test the battery properly.

I replaced the battery all went well. I just took the number from the battery that was in the car I.e "054" and bought another 054 battery, made sure dimensions were the same along with voltage. It fitted perfectly and works well. It's also an upgrade so got a good deal. Micks garage actually had it right with the reg matching the correct part. Although it also listed an "055" battery so it pays to do some research, other sites said the 054 wouldn't fit. The only difference being the position of the terminals are swapped.
