You can search for the manual by the module number here https://support.casio.com/en/manual/manuallist.php?cid=009

Wave Ceptor are often (but not always) solar powered. In which case the hands stopping may simply mean the battery is empty. Which can happen even from 'new' as it may have been sitting in the box for months.

If this is the case then leave it somewhere that it gets plenty of light. A window sill for example. It will start back up eventually.

The caseback will tell you the module - a 4 digit code inside a box. The link above will get you the manual for that module.

There are a few normal reasons for the second hand to stop (eg if you are in adjust mode it should whizz around to 12 o'clock and stay there) but if you have gone through the manual and eliminated these, then probably you have an issue. Send it back.

Assume the LCD display has stopped working too? If it is working you can press the bottom left button to cycle through display till it shows battery level.
Looks like all hands should have stopped at 12 if it's low. I'd still leave it in the window for the day first.

Got one a few months ago some value for €66. Do like it but wish the hands were a bit chunkier. The seconds hand is especially thin it doesn't look to bad in photos but in the flesh it's hair thin and can be hard see sometimes. Especially with the sunburst dial. The lume and built in light is pretty rubbish to.

I have the same model (analogue/digi).
You should have downloaded the online pdf operational guide for the module no. 5161.
E69, E70 amd E71 refer to the power saving mode which will put the second hand to 12 if the watch is in darkness for 60-70 minutes.
As you have just recently bought the watch it may be low on power. Have you checked the power indicator (digi display hi, md or lo)? If it's Lo or digi display blank it's more than likely the solar battery is empty.
Put your watch in strong sunlight for as long as possible and hopefully it will show medium or high levels of battery power.

Another watch (Solar Citizen A-T) I recently bought was dead on arrival as I suspect it was lying in a warehouse for a year. After about 5 hours of sunlight the watch started moving and after another 5 hours was properly charged.

    many thanks for the replies.
battery is showing as being MID. when contacted ebay seller - hallmark _time suggested it could have taken a knock on its journey over.
he has offered repair or refund which is very decent.
i like the watch so have suggested that i monitor ir for a week before i return

They have a ban on lithium batteries because the larger ones in some cases start fires. But a tiny button cell encased inside a watch poses zero risk to anyone. It's bureaucracy gone mad.

I wouldn't have told them it was a watch ... if you don't want to lie i'd have said jewelry or measuring device or something.

I remember reading - maybe it was here or another watch forum - about a post office employee who wouldn't let a guy ship an automatic watch due to the lithium battery restrictions.

"There's no battery in it", "Yeah right, what kind of watch doesn't have a battery" went the conversation :pac:

I had this exact same problem with an Accutron. They will happily take it into their sorting centre and deliver it but won't send it back out the bastards.

It's now just sat in the watch box taking up space.
