The site should be put on quarantine, rampant disregard for current public health measures should not be rewarded.

    🙈🙉🙊

    That's uncalled for.
I don't see why the travellers can't self isolate in their own dwellings.

If they can't be trusted to stay there then I can't see how they can be trusted to stay in their new "emergency accommodation"

Meanwhile a 71 year old woman in my village is currently in unsuitable social housing. She broke her second hip in October and the council claims they don’t have the money to carry out works for her. Two very steep steps into the property. Before she broke the first hip she worked for over 20 years and contributed to our society. There’s a suitable property that’s ground level and in better condition two doors down boarded up.

To all those reading this with a parent/grandparent/other relative that age. If this person in your life ever went through tough times and needed some form of state assistance, this state doesn’t give a s*** about them.

Ken O'Flynn has an unusual take on the story for a City Councilor

"While we hope and pray those who contracted Covid-19 make a full recovery, it seems non-adherence to guidelines may have impacted greatly upon this community."
“The city council is prioritising these people for vacant council homes in an effort to assist their self isolation," he said.

“Empty barrack space in Collins Barracks should be made available immediately to assist these families, rather than housing within the community, where further spread of the virus could, and most like will, occur.”

He also said the outbreak at this crowded halting site should serve as a cautionary tale for everyone.

“It should serve as a reminder to us all that we should all be wearing face masks, washing our hands, not visiting other peoples’ homes, and certainly not attending large family gatherings,” he said.

Anecdotally but talking to a local guard many of those in this story also had a part in the following story

His dad Noel O'Flynn would have had a similar outlook

    Yes I'd say so

Ken has been fairly blunt on the goings on there

TBF in this instance it is a good thing to get them isolating and offering them emergency accommodation

They can't really isolate on a halting site

Guarantee they will have to be paid thousands each to leave the house's or they will claim they were given the housing permanently

That is a danger but hopefully it doesn't happen in this case

I'm not sure that many would want to leave the halting site

If travellers were not involved this would be a non-story
