TAX Relief on AVCs question

    Hi,
I'm filling out my AVC contributions online to get Tax relief.
It's asking for my "Net Relevant Earnings".
    What is this?
My first thought was that this was my
Gross Pay - Tax free allowances
However it automatically fills in Gross Pay with an amount that looks more like my Net Pay.

    Any ideas?

    Jos

Tax-free allowances were abolished years ago.

Thanks so much for that link.
It says clearly what "Net Relevevant Earnings" for PAYE workers can be taken as Gross Pay for tax purposes.
Which makes me wonder why they introduce an extra entry in the form?

    Thanks
