Gas boiler regularly dropping pressure / cold water

This may be a stupid question, but what can I do to prevent my gas boiler from dropping pressure? It supplies both hot water and feeds the central heating system but over the past few months I've noticed it dropping in pressure. I have had to top it up about 4 times in a period of 6 months. Maybe that's normal, I don't know.

I've checked all the radiators and there are no visible leaks. Looking around the rooms there are no water stains on the ground (or ceiling). I also had it serviced recently and the guy servicing it didn't mention any leaks within the boiler itself. I'm not really sure what's causing it or if it's even an issue.

Also, what's the correlation between low pressure in the boiler and water not heating properly? I've found that when the pressure drops below 1 bar the water doesn't get that hot. I don't know the inner workings of boilers, but I thought the central heating was on a closed loop so if there's a leak it should only affect the radiators, or am I getting that wrong?
