    Hi guys,

I am trying to figure out the difference in tax I paid between 2 monthly payslips - both with the same hours worked.

Can anyone tell me from the below screenshots why the net pay is different? i.e. why I paid €158.41 tax in December but didn't in July?

    Any explanations would be appreciated

It looks like you started working in late June as your July YTD earnings are more or less the same as your gross July earnings.
This means that you would have had the benefit of unused tax credits and standard rate bands in your July payment (these unused values would have reduced your July deductions for PAYE and USC) but that would have been eliminated by the December date of payment.

thanks for the reply! it looks like December is the first month that the "tax" value was not 0, but this makes sense now taking into account tax credits and/or the standard rate band
