Independent Volvo mechanic - Munster

Can anyone recommend a good independent Volvo specialist in Cork? Or if not Cork somewhere in Munster? I imported a 5 year old XC90 from the UK last year and don't want to be paying main dealer prices for a car that I'm planning to hold onto for 5+ years.

    Thanks in advance.

Doesn't have to be a Volvo specialist really.... Plenty of good mechanics/garages around.

You can always ask the dealer for a quote. That way you know your savings if you go with someone else.
Johnson & Perrott (Mahon Point) have been recommended before.

Yes, it doesn't necessarily have to be a Volvo specialist but I thought if there was one around that would be the best option.

Any recommendations for good independent mechanics would be gratefully received!

Thanks. I have been quoted €1,000 by J&P to fix an issue with the motors in the wing mirrors (in addition to charging me €135 already to 'assess' the problem). The stop that prevents the mirrors folding in too far has broken off and they are saying they need to be replaced in full. I was hopefully a mechanic with a bit of ingenuity might try to repair rather than replace- there would be no safety issue if the repair didn't work so seems like it would be worth a try.

where did you end up going ? looking for someone to do a timing belt on v40

What year and engine is your V40? Alot of the engines in the V40 were Ford/PSA engines so you really don't need a Volvo specialist to change the timing belt.

Not that it will fix it but you will be able to turn off the folding on locking if you wish from the settings.

Yep, that engine or variants of it are found in various Ford/Peugeot/Citroen/Mazda, etc vehicles so it should be straight forward to work on by any mechanic or garage.
