Because this tragic event has demonstrated the need for the gardai to undergo more thorough training. It beggars belief that 15 gardai were unable to disarm one man.
The criminal was not just caught, he was killed. What makes George less deserving of Martin Nolan's judgement than the many other scumbags that reside in this country ? Showing such contempt to our judicial system is a dangerous path to tread.

The protestors however would be better served focusing their attention on the shortcomings of the gardai.
It is not right to equate the actions of George to those of immigrants and it's clear you're just looking to stir. You and the protestors are well matched in that regard.

    Who's 'backing down'?

There was an incident. GSOC are investigating as mandated in all such incidents. They'll make their recommendations, and we'll all move on. Some folks will twit and bookface about it. Most people won't. Some people will jump up and down. Most people won't. Self-serving politicians, and self-serving and spurious 'academics' will have plenty to say about it, until they're on to the next item. Feel free to ignore them.

Remember Abbylara? There was a man shot by a member of the ERU, who was later found to have acted correctly and within the law? Without googling, can you name the guy who was shot? Thought not. Neither could I.

A year or two from now, most people will have to be reminded that this happened at all. Not the Man's family and friends, and I'm sorry for their loss. For most of us though, somebody will mention 'yer man that was shot in Blanch. Y'know? The mad lad with the machete'. And we won't remember the details without google.

Which is why you should be up in arms over the failure of the gardai to afford him a fair trial and to receive a proportionate punishment.
How can we entrust these very same people to police our nation ?

New Irish like the Polish African etc
In this case Africans are causing chaos and people are afraid to call out criminal behaviour

So it's ok for Africans to be kicking off in Dublin? The shooting wasn't racist it was tragic but the Gardai didn't shoot him because he was black

Are the new Irish the babies that were born today? They're only a day old, so you can't expect much out of them.

If an armed man lunges at a Garda with a knife he'll get shot.

It's fairly simple. What 'more thorough' training is needed?

But you think they shot him because he was black?

I can remember John's name as he was a neighbour. He was not treated correctly during the siege and they were way below par in that regard. It contributed to his death. It was a very sloppy operation and there was quite a bit of disquiet towards the report and outcome. FBI my hole.
So don't talk so freely while disrespecting someone. Abbeylara was complex and a ****-up start to finish. He was no criminal.

I’m pretty sure it was mentioned that the victim had indeed stabbed someone in a shop and attempted to stab some police too so nobody is afraid to call out criminal behaviour, it’s been reported!

You’re just pissed off as nobody with a right mind is calling him out for being black and/or African and this winds you up no end!!

    Polish African?

I'd argue he denied himself, through his actions, any alternative to the outcome he met.

I trust the guards implicitly and explicitly in this regard.

The entire African community? That was a handful of teens. I wouldn’t go judging an entire group by it.

Why don't you talk about the kinahan/hutches or other irish criminals? there's no shortage. The "new irish" are an easy target. You and others like you show your cowardice and racism with your one-sided attack.

I wasn't disrespecting anybody. Simply pointing out that for the vast majority of people, unconnected with the deceased, he's now out of mind and out of memory.

I never insinuated he was a criminal. The only thing I said about him was that he was shot, and was from a particular townland.

    For context.

I think you have to go to a Gaelscoil and also learn how to do Irish dancing. You must also know how to play the fiddle/accordion.
You must also be an expert in grants.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

Get a life. This is different. The brother wants the Gardai to be targeted and used a megaphone to fire up the brothers and sisters to foment chaos.

God almighty, time has come to stop this stuff that is largely overlooked because many are afraid to say anything due to the R word.

The fight back has to come, sadly. Imagine our Gardai being publicly targeted. Nope from me anyway. Would not be tolerated anywhere.

Nobody's backing down to anyone. Wait and see. The Gardaí deciding that it might be best to not inflame things by baton charging a gang of teenagers roaming around Blanchardstown is not equal to "backing down".

I'm sure both sides will be very disappointed that when this whole thing blows over but the vast majority of people won't be.

That's a debate that's needed for sure but any mention it's racist
If a black person attacks me and I said black in the description I'm a racist as a country we are afraid to have the debate
We could or should tighten out border control to anyone from any country coming in

Protesters & posters should leave well enough alone until the several separate investigations are complete. We have a process & we should hold judgement until the end of the process.

I will say that from what little facts I can find on this it appears that the Gardai acted accordingly but I haven't seen all of the facts
