    Hi

Anyone get a tow bar and wiring installed by a bmw dealer. I have a 17 X1.

I am using it for a bike carrier.

Just looking for ball park prices.

You'd be better off going with malcolms towbar or towing equipment.ie. BMW dealer will rip you off. I had a detachable towbar fitted to my previous BMW 535d by malcolms and couldn't fault them. Removed it when not in use so didn't take the look off the car. Cost €550, bmw will charge at least double.

    Thanks for that info.

Just wondering which wiring kit was fitted. Was it a relay bypass system or one that pluged into the car's data bus.

    Many Thanks.

I'm actually not sure to be honest. Be worth ringing or sending them an email if they are not closed for lockdown. Check on malcolms website too and input your car details. It will show you available options and also fitting instructions.

Go with swan detach btw if going with malcolms who use Witter towbar. Very tidy and easy to remove when not in use.

Thansk, sent them both a message. I will go with the removable towbar as I will only be using it intermittantly.

Ya working on BMWs day in and day out I’d be inclined to tell to stay away from bm and go away with a repatile tow bar crowd once they can do the wiring etc correctly you will be grand. Because I know bmw will quite litterly take the pants down
