Fixing Wall Hung Vanity Unit

    My wife just purchased a wall hung Vanity unit for the ensuite. It's quite heavy and comes with a sink also so there's s nice big of weight. The bathroom is upstairs and it's tiled with a travertine tile. The tile is fixed to marine ply, around 18-20mm thick.

    Am I ok to just drill through the tile and screw the mounting brackets with screws into the ply behind??

    I wouldn’t think so if it’s as heavy as it sounds. You’d want to be going into the studs or brick that the ply is attached to.

    Be fine.

    I would put a few extra screws through the back board too.

    If it is indeed 18mm ply sub-tile, you’d be fine, but I’ve never seen a situation where walls are lined with such thick ply before tiling. Seems very excessive.
