This is great. Almost every company seems to be closed until the 4th of January. Other years there would be a brief period of toil and hardship from the 27th of December till the 31st but for most it isn't happening this time and I'm delighted as a result.

Hopefully every year will be like this. No more sh1tty Stephens day sales or working over the Christmas period unless society collapse without your intervention. This is a far more civilised set up. If I had my way I'd close everything from 15th of December to 15th of January like they do in Tristan da Cunha but this is a good compromise

In what industry? I've seen plenty of companies open over the last couple of days.

If I was actually trying to troll I'd be getting 10 out of 10 every time till the cows come home so

Any electrical or construction place I've been trying to eke supplies out of. Non-essential shops in town, places that were open last year

I assume you mean electrical places that supply wiring, consumer units, sockets, light switches etc to the trade/ electricians as opposed to Currys/ Harvey Norman et al. If that is the case I would have generally thought for the most part them and building providers as closed through Christmas up to some time in the early new year anyway as in previous years...certainly the smaller non chains as opposed to the national chains anyway.

Clothes shops/ hairdressers/ those phone fix places and other businesses I would class as non essential were open in my local town earlier today.

Oh okay, 'almost every company in the limited area I've been trying to buy stuff in' as opposed to 'almost every company' then.

How do you know, many company's are using work from home zoom apps, I think u mean most shops are closed, no point in having sales in the time of covid.
Sales will be mostly held online.plenty of shops were open today
