A friend had a house in the south east .
It is too far to travel to turn on the heating .
It needs to have the heat on occasionally as it tends to get damp.
    No Phone / internet installed.

A thought is to get a WiFi enabled thermostat like climote or similar to allow heat to be turned on remotely .
What is the absolutely cheapest per pay which is only required for the one reason , that is to which on the heating remotely .
    Thanks

That’s a brilliant idea. Can a digital timer be set maybe for every second day ?
Wound you recommend any particular type
    Thank you

Climote doesn't need the internet - it works via its own data sim card and can be accessed via a web browser or app

Ok so you just need to fit a ready to go SIM card ?
That will allow you to send it texts remotely to turn off / on , is that right ?
    Thanks

No, it comes with a pre-installed SIM card from Climote or the elcectricity supplier that installs it

It costs around €19 per year after the first year

Sorry to hijack your thread. Is that what climote is, an app operated heating switch? I know you can set the temperature too. Can you set on off times too? It's very hard to get detailed info on them.

It's a timer and thermostat in one. Which can be controlled locally, or via an app or website

If the data is poor in the area. Can you still text basic commands ?

Thanks for that. I don't have separate zones just an on off timer system, I'm assuming it will control my basic system. It would be great if it did as it would give some degree of automation especially when it's left on and forgotten about until the house is like Kew gardens...

Yes it can control 1, 2 or 3 separate zones - I originally had it to control my basic system (1 zone) but the heating system was upgraded to 2 zones

Thanks for that I'll give it a serious look, some of the electricity providers are offering them to switch to them.
