    And no wonderwall either!

Congrats Osh and great reveal JGF. Happy enough with mid table considering I went with a pretty generic song.

Dirty Old Town and Wind Beneath My Wings notably absent too.

I knew I was in trouble in this round after the first round :)

I like singing this one because I can sing it nice and low and nobody can hear my terrible voice :D

Oh Arghus that's a class choice, I've done that one a few times too :D

Yep, I just love how he's absolutely killed out by the end of it - can barely croak a hello.

Top marks to Rikand for Freak on A Leash:

    BOOMNADANOOMNANAMENA
    BOOMNADANOOMNANAMENA -

    or lyrics to that effect.

You probably all thought that this walrus was dead and gone... never to be revived.

    But it returns.

I'm more worried about tusk though, did we all do too well on the "A song that will make me cry" round and break him? :o

Just over 30 minutes until we kick off with Round 3: First Dance Songs.
A tough round, with a good mix of songs I knew and songs I was unfamiliar with!

A few of my own personal favourite choices that I might have entered in this round...

    Better - Tom Baxter

Simply The Best - Noah Reid

Ray Montagne - You Are The Best Thing

Interestingly enough I had actually ranked all these songs back in January but never finished the writeups. People will fare VERY differently now than they would have back in January...

    Let's get this started!

Kicking off round 3 and in 11th place with 11 points is:
    Rikand

    True Companion – Marc Cohn

Have I listened to this artist before? Yes
Have I listened to this song before? No

This is a really nice song, good rhythm to it. Not sure why I was reminded of Bruce Springsteen a little bit with the opening. Love the piano going through it. I would only be familiar with Walking in Memphis from Marc Cohn. It’s nice but I found it a tiny bit repetitive – but lovely nonetheless.

What was round 3 again ?

    -edit-

    Ah, I know now :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,788 ✭✭✭ JohnGreenFan

In 12th place with 10 points is:
    Mustang shelly

    The Voyage – Christy Moore

Have I listened to this artist before? Yes
Have I listened to this song before? Yes

Is this a great song? Absolutely. Is it a first dance song? Ummmm… I don’t know.

It’s a lovely song but I feel like you just can’t dance to Christy Moore. Christy is for quiet rooms at 3am and everyone holding a glass of whiskey and swaying back and forth. Silent appreciation of a master. Not a first dance.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,788 ✭✭✭ JohnGreenFan

In 10th place with 12 points is:
    Amirah Warm Rehabilitation

Cyndi Lauper – Time After Time

Have I listened to this artist before? Yes
Have I listened to this song before? Yes

Such a beautiful song – love Cyndi Lauper’s voice. Overfamiliarity hurt its placing a small bit. I’m not sure it would be an easy one to dance to. I’m a rubbish dancer but that will become apparent over the rounds - apparently it's hard to find a song I can dance to!

In 13th place with 9 points is:
    Irish Aris

    Everything – Michael Buble

Have I listened to this artist before? Yes
Have I listened to this song before? Yes

Michael Buble is such an easy pick for these kinds of rounds, and this song in particular suffers from a little bit of overfamiliarity when it features on just about every First Dance playlist on Spotify. Nice easy song to dance to though, lovely rhythm to it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,788 ✭✭✭ JohnGreenFan

In 9th place with 13 points is
    phatkev

Higher and Higher – Otis Redding

Have I listened to this artist before? Yes
Have I listened to this song before? Yes

We’re all familiar with my love for a good bop and this one has definitely got a chorus which scores high on the bop-o-meter!! Excellent choice, maybe one for just after the first dance to get everyone else out on the floor. I’d more be familiar with the Jackie Wilson version and I think I’d still prefer that version to this one.
