PVC door letterbox, how to find right one?

    Hello,
I moved into this house a few months ago and the letterbox exterior flap was missing, I tried to order a new one and fit it today but it doesn't quite sit right at the top because the aperture is so close to the grooves above.
I also noticed that the large circular holes mean even if it did fit properly at the top there'd still be a draft blowing through.
Any advice on this? It seems there's a specific brand or type of letterbox that will fit but I can't find it.
Anyone recognise this or have any way they can help?
    It would be greatly appreciated

I should add that the replacement I tried to fit was a Stormguard sleeved letterbox, 295 by 75 mm
That fits the aperture slot fine but is not right for the door

    Are you in Dublin?

I've used this company several times https://www.handlestore.com/door-furniture/letterboxes/upvc-door-letterboxes never had a problem getting the exact match for my patio door. Do you still have the old one to get the dimensions from?

    I am in Cork actually.
And I do have the old dimensions, I will check out that site, thank you.

As far as I can see the original letterbox was an outside screw on plate and separate inside plate which was basically held on with tape, so I have looked around and found this https://www.mcmahons.ie/letterplate-draught-seal-flap-white which should hopefully cover up the entirety of the slot from the outside and then I can worry about attaching the inside plate as well.

It is a strange set up but it seems it was just a bad diy job at some stage and that's why the letterbox I ordered won't fit properly

Mila are the go to business for this in Dublin. There must be a Cork equivalent. To be honest a better job is to replace the letterbox. The whole thing is sold together. Front middle and back. Bring the old one to the Mila equivalent & they will sell you a complete letterbox that will fit your door for under 30 euro

Letter flaps on doors in my opinion are a nuisance. They let drafts in and at Halloween time uninvited deliveries.
I would blank the existing hole and install a real letter box in the porch or on the front of the house.

How? Assuming you've looked at the picture, exactly how would you block up that huge gaping irregularly shaped hole without making a pig's ear of the man's door?

Why do people come on here and answer a question that wasnt asked?

Covering it with pvc block outside and filling the hole then cover with pvc cover inside.

They are an absolute draught nuisance and really do suck heat out of your house.

Because often you might find better solutions can be given that someone hasn't thought of before.

Surely ... That makes sense ?

No. Making a pig's ear out of someone's door doesn't make sense to me anyway.
Giving him a link to a site I've used several times makes sense. I've contributed what I think was sensible to this thread and I bid you farewell. I just couldn't be bothered with a stupid boards argument today.

So why are you starting one?. Why not have a discussion?
Don’t assume your solution is best. Thrre are many ways to “skin a cat” The more solutions that are suggested the better for Op and other readers to learn from.

Fix a dummy letterbox inside and outside and seal both sides well.

Sometimes thinking outside the box works.

There is more than one way to skin a cat.
