Seems like Dublin is set to get a new indoor market a lot sooner than what the Fruit Market will take and certainly sooner than the mess at the Iveagh market.

Google has too much space on its hands with many staff wanting to continue to work from home. So now they have put in planning permission to Dublin City Council to use some of their Bolands Mill development as market space along the lines of Corks English Market or Londons Spitalfields. They are planning an indoor market inside the old mill and a civic square with cafes and restaurants with the square being used for outdoor farmers markets and cinema in the summer and an ice rink during winter. All of which will be open to the public. They say their aim is to breathe some life into to the docklands area.

They own the building that houses the Chelsea Markets in NYC too. I like this idea and hopefully it happens.
