    Hello ,
I recently bought a ford from a main dealer with 90k km .
I'm not very good with engines but have driven for over twenty years.

When I tested it I noticed the idle was a bit lumpy and the guy said it was because it wasn't warmed up.
Problem is that after the first week I noticed this is getting a lot worse, especially after being on the motorway for half hour or putting engine under pressure.

There is also a lot of smoke from the oil filling cap when the engine is warm and idling.

The garage took the vehicle for two weeks and said they couldn't find anything wrong , but I'm worried that there is something serious happening and I will have a big job on my hands in the not too distant future.

    Should I be concerned ?

    Thanks.

    Yes, you should be concerned.

Bring it to another mechanic for an unbiased diagnosis.

Is there a service history with the car?

This is not normal. I had ford focus for years + did some serious mileage +never had this issue once.

If you bought it from reputable garage you shoukd have 1 year warranty.

If your getting nowhere with them get it checked by someone else, it will be worth it then go back to main dealer with analysis + don't let them fob you off.

    Yep ,
Complete ford history as per manufacturer and the engine has no signs of anything been taken off/fixed

Because of lockdown I couldn't go to my trusted mechanic.

    I'll have to try another.

    Thanks.

If the car is still under warranty then ultimately a Ford dealer will have to fix it. Next time you bring back to the Ford dealer, get their mechanic to come with you on a drive and show them what you are talking about.
