I got a new job (around rathmines) which is 54km from home, unlike the previous job was 88km, mostly motorway M1 then M50.

From my calculation ill be doing roughly 2,200km per month commuting to new job.

Route with my new job will be M1 then city driving, start/stop.

With my commute change, should I keep the fluence? Or switch to petrol?

I’d keep it Frank you only just paid big bucks for it, it was from a main dealer or Windsor wasn’t it? You’ll easily loose a few grand trying to trade it in or selling it privately. It would be different if you bought it privately and could sell it tomorrow and get your money back for it.

Your still driving over 20k km’s a year plus whatever driving your doing in your spare time and I assume your doing a good bit of driving on the M1 so diesel still seems to suit your commute?

I think you should buy a new house to be honest, Frank. But failing that, keep the Renault its as good a car and engine for that type of driving as anything.

No reason to change, you will still be giving it a blast on the motorway so no issues for it.
70k done on the megane, absolutely nothing needed, serviced it myself now 3 times.
