    Hi all

I don't know if this is the right place, but here goes!

Had to have a copper gas pipe put onto the side of the house last week, and already I'm noticing part of it is going green already. I know if it rains etc probably reaction to the metal, but from a safety point of view, especially with gas involved, does it corrode the pipe?

I should stress was put in by a qualified installer!

I think copper just turns green when it oxidises.
My Da was a manager of a roofing company, told my a story how they had just installed a brand new copper roof on a church.
Then one of the lads had a p#ss on the roof and of immediately turned the copper green.

I'd say it's a natural process since we've been using copper for a long time. If in doubt, ask the installer.

Perfectly normal reaction of copper in air, the oxidisation layer actually protects the metal beneath it.

    🙈🙉🙊

My in laws live in a housing estate where copper plating is underneath each main bedroom bay window. The copper goes green when it oxidises. All the houses have different levels of oxidisation on the copper. Looks lovely
