In the North we've entered a two week circuitbreaker lockdown and can have a maximum of 8 people.

long term we intend to stream the service as a matter of course so that members who are ill or away for other reasons can drop in, and to be honest this Covid isn't going to go away any time soon.

last week we did a test stream of the service and the guys learned a lot.... including to take the sound off mute!!

we also learned that me need to mic the drums and the organ (blended service)

today before the service I need to work out how to mic a big old 1970s electric organ. it's unlikely to have a line out.... but we might be lucky......

so it will be a learning process!

How did it go? I think a lot of churches will be streaming their services for the foreseeable future, even if only for more vulnerable members who might not be comfortable with attending in person.

One challenge we've found is how to make the service as participatory as possible - the risk with streaming is we just watch along like any other TV show and don't really take part. Any thoughts on how to get around that?

    it went well!

we didn't have drum mics so we put the mic from the lectern over the kit and it caught the cymbals and toms but not the bass... we've got new mics from Thomann and I've set them up, and well soundcheck them in the morning.

the biggest PROBLEM is that as we do a blended service with organ led hymn and contemporary band stuff, while we were able to mic the organ and display the words on screen, there were no vocals. something to address in future, when we are allowed a congregation again.
