Rent review conditions when not contracted

    1. My friends moved into apartment rented by Savills on 1/9/2020.
    2. She received a document set moving in but nothing to be signed, I've asked for copies.
    3. It's a 3-bed and when she moved in, one tenant had his name on lease and since then another person has moved in, so it's full now.
    4. Savills asked in October if they all wanted to go on lease.
    5. They said yes, but now they are asking for the 4% rent increase starting 1/1/21.
    6. I believe since old tenant had contract she doesn't have leg to stand on.
    7. However she did move in with belief that rent would stay same for a year.
    8. Is she stuck paying or moving?
