Anyone know if the Ford 7 year warranty on new cars is any good? I know its capped to 100,000km which I'm fine with. A dealer has told me its not a 2 year Ford + 5 year 3rd party warranty. Also, any particular Ford dealers renowned for doing skinny deals on new cars? We know exactly what we want.

It’s a 2 year bumper to bumper warranty plus 5 years of reduced cover.

    More info here

Ford often throw a ball of discount onto cars, so I’d be wondering if there’s one of those promotions coming up.

They are advertising 3k off the focus online so I doubt they would offer much more than that while not touching dealer discount. Thanks for sending....that's the opposite to what the salesman told me but is more in line with what I thought it would be😂

The extended warranty is paid for by the buyer
It looks like it's hidden in car cost in uk it's 17 pounds a month
It looks like ford has a 3 year warranty
The new boss at Ford said they paid 22 billion dollars in warranty work and in January they want to hand off half the cost to the dealers so expect dealers to tell you it's not covered next year
If you want a reliable car buy a Japanese or korean car like hyundai/kia it toyota or honda you should expect 5 years no problems

Thanks. I actually seen that yday. Might ring them to see how good these savings are or is it just marketing. Can't see Cavanaghs having deals that no other ford dealer have tho

I wouldn't hold my breath, that particular garage is not know for being cheap in my experience.

On the original question - the Ford bumper to bumper warranty is for 2 years only - whilst the remaining 5 are looked after by an outside company?

I would be wary of third party warranties as other threads seem to indicate they work doubly hard to exclude themselves from any liability.

Can someone clarify if the reduced warranty is also covered by Ford themselves or are the Kia/Hyundai warranties better value?

Theres alot they need to fix. I downloaded 2 different Focus brochures. One with the model year changes and an older one :)

I rang Charleville. Seemingly there actually is a man from the factory over. They did seem disappointed though I couldn't come in to visit the dealership since Im not local (and I was disappointed as I would love to see 'this man')

Will update you on how good or not the deal is when I get a price.

I wonder which factory he’s from. Maybe the cheese factory across the road :D

Surprise surprise, the man from factory price is 'identical' to the price I got from our nearest Ford dealer few weeks ago.....

Is the event a Ford Ireland backed thing? Might be worth asking them.

Did you find that the 2950 discount promotion was actually being applied to the price that you got or is it just ford playing with figures.

Fords pricing is so messy and wooly (no doube intentional) and leaves you not really knowing what your actually getting for your own car; what your actually paying for your own car and what actual if any saving there is out.

Dealer 1: Our local dealer few weeks back who actually originally gave me a quote breakdown only seemed to only be giving me 1950 off. When I said is the discount not 2950 he was like 'oh eh I don't know but if it is, you will by all means get it as that comes from Ford and not the dealer'

Dealer 2: Cavanaghs cost to change was the same. So I actually don't know are they allowing me less for my trade in but either way you cut the cake, the cost to change is the same.

On a side note though, I priced a 2 2020 identical Focus (UK imports). The cost to change was only about 1500 less. So either them dealers have paid too much for their 1 year old cars or else trying to make a killing on them. I'd far rather have my km clocks and 7 year warranty (as good or bad as it is) and be up a year with a car that is mark or scuff free for only 1500e

There’s loss of Ford dealers, keep shopping around. The one who gets it most wrong gets the deal.

Could be coincidental but smells hairy....pricing all near identical, not even 500 or 750 off.

No rush to do anything as to be honest our astra 1.6 diesel is sharper to drive than the Focus 1.5 diesel. Will wait until middle Jan and ring a few then....see has their tune changed.

They’re all buying them for the same price off Ford to be fair and the RRP is the same,
it’s hardly price fixing if they are all giving similar discount.
There are known margins you need to keep on selling cars to stay in business.

This is understandable but from personal experience the prices can vary greatly. We also don't know what the margin actually is. I have no doubt it's much higher than the UK - when you look at UK car brokers like carwow, broadspeed or drivethedeal you wonder how they can manage a 10% discount on a car and still turn a profit when I've never seen an Irish car offered with more than 5% haggled off the actual price.

I don't include advertised discounts as they're built into the original price anyway.

What I would give for a carwow over here on new cars. Prices are too tightly controlled in Ireland.

If you want to be a dealer that works with carwow, you’re resigning to the fact that you’ll get volume with small margin on those deals. Different manufacturers have different margin (dealer cost to buy vs RRP) and obviously some cars sell themselves and others are more difficult to shift.

If you want complete transparency, you’d have no-haggle pricing where the discounted price is the RRP.
This has been attempted in the past by Fiat and was a failure.

Well at least we all get to see the man from the factory actually exists.....
