Extension- septic tank

    Hi ,

I am planning to build an extension to a bungalow built in 1987. It's currently 85m² - 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom.
We will be adding 40 square metres. Two of the existing (small) bedrooms will become an office and playroom and the extension will consist of two slightly bigger bedrooms and a larger living room area/ sunroom and front porch.

As the extension is to the side and front of house, we will require planning permission.

I am concerned that Galway County council will request that we upgrade the system, which I would like to avoid if possible. The existing septic tank is working perfectly as far as we are aware of. We haven't had any issues with it since the house was built.

As the house will still only have 3 bedrooms and one bathroom, should this be sufficient?

Could anyone advise what we could include with application to get approval without a condition of upgrading existing system?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A report from a qualified person which states that the existing system is working perfectly and that it is sized properly to take the proposed development.
