Car hit road

    Hello,

Today I turned down the wrong road to a beach to find it quite flooded and the road was below the road. It was too narrow to turn around so I had to reverse back onto the road. Due to the gap from the main road to this road I felt what sounded like my back bumper hitting the road. I didn't see any damage on the bumper but I had forgotten to check the exhaust since this is a bit lower than the bumper. As the front of the car met the road it also scraped, again I didn't pull the bumper off or anything but there are scrapes udnerneath and almost lost a mudguard due to rusted screws being pulled out (this was a problm before this happened so its not as bad as it sounds and I have that fixed anyway. The car seems to be driving okay but I am wondering if I caused any damage to anything on the underbody?

    Thank you

You will only know that if you have a look underneath the car to check for damage

My crystal ball says no but is notoriously unreliable.
Have a look you'll know, literally no way for us to tell ya over boards pal.

Did you turn the car upside down to have a look at it?

It’s likely your car will be undrivable in the next couple of hours. Best get the messages in

Check your oil and water levels.
Keep an extra eye out when you're driving for warning lights and needles in places they shouldn't be.
If car feels and drives same as normal it is probably fine.
If your peace of mind is worth it, get it checked out over a pit or on a lift.

Don't forget to take out the stupid lowered springs

As said never assume all is good, get it up on a lift for a visual check to see if its safe, the amount of things getting ripped off cars is a laugh as seen a bumper ripped off a new car but it was what came with it was made very expensive repair.Be safe.

https://imgur.com/a/qXpXD3l Here’s the road and the drop from the road. Everything about the car is original jo lowered springs and I know about checking underneath I’m just asking what I should be checking out for. No need for some of the smart answers I got!

Since the car appears to be driving fine it's most likely sound.

Keep a check for any oil drops underneath on the ground after its been parked up and keep a check on the oil level every so often. Apart from that maybe listen out for any exhaust rattles while driving to see if any hangers were damaged. If there's no pull in the steering your tracking is still most likely fine too.

That road/drop doesn't look awful bad so chances are you'll be grand.

Unless you hit an awful lash on the sump or else pulled the back box off it it should be fine. If you did either of the above the car would be p1ssing oil and it would sound like a tank.
If it didn’t beach itself and pulled away out on its own steam it probably only got a few scrapes underneath

Just messin with you man, like what user keepalive213 posted just check oil or any fluids leak, and just jack it up and look for anything unusual that's what i would do.

It didn’t sound like any metal scraping anyway and it was very momentary and didn’t sound like anything was dragged along the road so I’m 90% sure it was just the bumpers and nothing major. It’ll be going into town tomorrow so I’ll be observant for anything different ðŸ‘
