    HI All,

    Looking for a little advice. Have a VW Golf Mk 5 2007. The boot lock has giving trouble, Basically when i open the car the lock disengauges and boot opens. I manage to close it, but then when i start the car the boot opens again. Now brake lights and indicators are misbehaving. Any ideas if the boot lock is causing this or is it the Central Electronics Control Module needs replacing?
    Thanks in advance. :confused::confused:

    Probably broken wires where the loom enters the boot.

    Is that easy to check, is it the rubber seal beside the hinge. Is it easy to strip back? Thanks for your reply

    Should be easy to check. Just pop the rubber out of the bootlid to expose the wires. It will be fairly obvious if there is an issue there.

    Its worth a look anyway. It'd be a common enough issue on lots of cars.

    Checked the wiring, took all covers of boot, can’t find any break. Car now has multiple issues with warning lights, airbag, steering, break logs and indicators erratic. I dicconnected the boot lock, this only made everything worse.

    as mentined check the loom om the RHS where the rubber grommet with the boot is, may be rubbings cables or water ingreess. my rear wash tube fluid was split here and was leaked badly into boot area, I could also see some cable were badly chaffed & rusted too so cleaned them up, trimed and recrimped a couple of the pairs/
    there is also a manual boot releae on the inside of boot if you flip the little cable off. Mine boot lock was giving issue too when i bought the car but went away again on its own and nver returned
