New used car

I bought a new used car the other day and I noticed that the door felt slightly different to the other doors when opening and closing. I questioned it with the salesman, was told its probably wear and teAr, but I’m beginning to think it’s misaligned. It’s not a major issue but It’s bugging me.

Should the dealer fix this issue? Or can they reject it. I have 6 month warranty, I don't think the door is covered. I’m hoping that under consumer rights it should be fixed?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Does it look misaligned?

A slight difference feel won't be enough for the dealer. It's a used car you hopefully test drove, and signed off on when you bought it.
Dealer warranty don't stretch to fixing your issue, I'd say.

Can you take the car to another place and let them have a look, like a second opinion?
If they do discover a serious issue you'll have more truck with the dealer.

It looks ok to be honest. I can see it’s scratching the striker plate. My previous ten year old car had no issues like this.
I could yes, which would be the best to go, a mechanic or body shop?

Dealer likely will dismiss it again. A second opinion would help my case I would imagine.

Most used car warranties only cover engine and gearbox as well.

You’d have to ask yourself why that happened in the first place. Did you do a history check on the car?

Dealer warranties aren't worth the paper they're written on imo.

Have the car checked by independent mechanic and if there is a serious problem then have a look here--> https://www.ccpc.ie/consumers/cars/your-rights-if-things-go-wrong

I would naturally assume he/she means the car is new to them but a used car.

You really should get out more if you needed that explained to you.

Well, that escalated quickly, I wonder what I missed?
Anyway, op is there any lift in the hinges? It could be something as simple as adjusting the striker plate.

This, very easy to do but as suggested could hint at a previous repair.

Feel around the inside of the door jams for over spray, will feel slightly rough to the the touch.

    What car is it OP?

Yes dealer should fix if there's an issue. They might initially say there's no issue to save their money.
Get it checked by another garage and then talk to that dealer.

Couple of years ago I bought a used car and I got discs rotors, auxiliary belt, spark plugs & one wheel bearing replaced in 6 months or so.
Recently a friend bought a car which had issues in display screen, noise from driver side door. We got the dealer to replace screen and fix door noise.

Possibly the door was replaced and needs adjusting. It needs looking at as it might leak if poorly fitted.

If its hitting the latch it might just be a wore hinge and the door has dropped a small bit
