Hi,I'm thinking of purchasing a new Passat 2.0TDi DSG. There are 2 auto engine options,122hp and 150hp.Is the 150hp worth(or needed) the extra €2100 for 30,000km/annum of mainly National(mostly non motorway) driving?TIA.

What car are you driving now? It’ll very much depend on your expectations.
I have the 150 in an Octavia and wouldn’t want to have any less, but everyone’s different.
As well as having less bhp, the 122 version is well down on torque too.

Never driven one though, so maybe that’s the best test!

    Thanks Colm!I've a 2018 1.6 120hp Highline at the moment..The 21 Passat 2.0 is practically the same car(looks/spec wise) so I thought I'd try something different!

Echo exactly what Colm has said, try take them for a spin if you can get out in both, but my gut instinct is yes it would benefit from it, 122bhp in a Passat is quite low and not the engine intended for it by the designers but it is more a tax compliant engine.

Looking at the figures the new engine has the same torque and bhp as your 1.6 so I wouldn’t imagine it’s much different.

The only 0-60 time I could find for it was actually marginally slower than your 1.6.
