eir has changed pay as u go price plans

    i see eir has changed pay as u go price plans from today no more 5 euro price plans as it was before 10 euro is now minium price plan as u would get one month for 10 euro now its 2 weeks unlimited calls only no data or texts

    Think this changed a while ago, not sure though. I don't know why anyone would get the €10 package every 2 weeks for just calls when they offer €20 every 4 weeks for data with calls or texts.

    it was 10 euro for 4 weeks now its 10 euro for two weeks that's the change

    The change was announced in September, it has come into effect from this month.

    You are correct that the plan is now entirely pointless as it costs the same as the €20 plan for much less value.

    At €10 for 4 weeks it was a reasonable plan, especially for those who only use a phone as a phone, not a handheld computer.

    Realistically the only people on it would be elderly non-internet folks with basic phones, targeting these people with a 100% price increase (who are also less likely to be on the ball with switching plans or networks) is IMO a really cynical move, especially as the same company is engaging in a price war for younger customers through go-mo.
