    Are led headlights any good.

    Are they better than halogens.

LEDs are brighter, they put out a whiter light and they do last longer than halogen bulbs.

I had Xenon’s on my last car and LED on my current car and Xenons were better in my opinion. (2012 and 2017 superb estate)

If I had choice again I’d go with xenon.

When LED headlights fail can you replace the LED or is it the whole light assembly that has to be replaced?
How much in cost compaired to Xenons?

I've had xenon headlights on my previous cars and they were way better than standard halogen. I now have a car with LED headlights and they are certainly better than xenon. My only regret is that they are not adaptive matrix LED but there you go.

    Same here.
Progressed from Halogen via bi-xenon to full LED projector lamps and every step has been a huge improvement.
Looking forward to matrix LED at some point in the future.

One thing to note though ...LEDS are not so good in the snow. The lamp doesn't really get warm on the outside and snow doesn't melt but keeps piling up and sticking until you're driving blind. If you haven't got headlamp wipers (I don't), in heavy snowfall you need to stop every now and then and wipe the headlamps clean :D

Are LED a lifetime of the car job or do they eventually fail?

They can fail like any part but generally they are designed to have a longer lifespan than halogen or xenon bulbs. They are also more energy efficient.

If the original lens wasn't designed for them then they won't be very effective for the driver and will annoy/blind oncoming traffic.

    Vw passat.

Looking at two passats one has led lights and one normal lights.

Just wondering is it worth paying extra for them.

You can’t retrofit them as such. The factory LEDs aren’t the same as upgrading your bulbs to LED, and swapping the headlight units out and getting all the required gubbins would cost thousands.

To do it properly you'll need the complete light units and levellers it would cost a fortune unless you got lucky and found a car in a breakers yard, even at that it wouldn't be cheap.

I didn't know the 17 superb had led lights as an option.

:o oops. I thought bi Xenon meant two bulbs:pac:

Per light unit, not one each side..

The old Superb had a Xenon dipped beam and a halogen high beam.

That would drive me insane, halogen are so yellow compared to Xenon, not to mention the Lucas sealed beam, now that was yellow:pac:
