JNLRs are now with stations and will be released publicly tomorrow

    Any hunches on increases/decreases/disasters?

Covid to have a big say? Thoughts?

98fm breakfast has to have a listenership of about 10?

Going to be all over the place

In-car listening down; at-home listening up - both significantly so. Commute time shows will fall and daytime shows should rise.

There'll be some Irish election + US election + COVID drift to talk stations / talk shows (Last Word comes to mind); whatever 'don't want to hear it' drift the opposite direction to music stations won't be detectable.

Would want to see the second or third set of books to see any normality.

Would there not be more listeners - people working from home, listening to the radio when they couldn't do it in the office?

    Likely, but at different times.

Very few people WFH are getting up at 6:30/7, they're getting up at 8:30

One of the reasons why classic hits moved their breakfast show to a later time.

It will be interesting to see if the figures mirror the trends in other countries.

Some figures are here. RTE Radio 1 up overall. Understandable when you consider it's our greatest ever peacetime crisis, Radio 2 keeps going down.

The piece is a fluff piece for Joe Duffy. I posted the breakdown in another thread.
So the Sunday World piece leads with Joe Duffy's listernship 'soaring' and reaching 'new heights'. In actual fact, of all the shows listed, he had the smallest increase along with Ray D'Arcy.

Nice bit of spin. Pity it doesn't stand up to more than a few seconds scrutiny.

Change in figures are here, all are up.

    Morning Ireland 14%
    Ryan Tubridy 14%
    Today with.... 17%
    Liveline 11%
    Ray D'Arcy 11%
    Drivetime 26%
    The Business 25%
    Miriam O'C 35%
    Brendan O'C 16%

We'll have to wait for the next round of figures to figure out if Claire Byrne has scared listeners away from the Today programme.

Likewise Brendan O'Connor and the Weekend on One.

Kinda brain-dead to call the Joe Duffy aspect a "bit of spin" or claim that it doesn't hold up to scrutiny.

What does that even mean? They are literally black and white figures. There's not exactly any columbo work involved.

Any increase on already extremely high figures is a major boost and more noteworthy than shows with half the listenership gaining a few more percentage increases.
