Can anyone tell me is Carers leave/Benifit designed to cover taking care of children? Or is it purely for taking care of sick/disabled people?

    All explained here:

Thanks I have read that, but it wasn't overly clear if it covers taking care of children or if it's specifically for someone who is sick.

"employees may take unpaid Carer's Leave of up to 2 years to provide full-time care for someone who needs it." By that it would appear it covers looking after a child who isn't sick.

"If the person you are caring for is under 16 you must be getting Domiciliary Care Allowance to qualify for Carer's Allowance."

"minding" someone and "caring" for someone - be it an adult or a child - are not the same thing.

If you want to leave work to mind healthy kids, then I'd suggest that you look at taking a career break. (I'm assuming you've already researched parental leave, term time leave and paternity leave.)
