If a twenty four square meter log cabin was built ten years ago in the walled garden of a listed building without planning permission, is it now exempt from planning because it was built more than seven years ago? I've heard that there is an exemption for buildings over seven years old.four

Your initial post was edited so if you want straight answers then you need to post the full details.

I edited it to add that the size is twenty four square meters.

If it's there over 7 years doesn't make a blind bit of a difference to whether it's exempt or not. The "7 year rule" relates to enforcement as in if the local authority received a complaint, they could not pursue enforcement action if you could prove its over 7 years old since the development was completed.

Many types of work, which in another building would be considered exempted development, may not be exempted where the building is a protected structure.
