I'm looking at getting my first car and was wondering is the Kia Rio any good? I've been looking at a 1.1 131 Rio which was in my initial budget of around 8k or so but I'm now looking at a 1.4 Diesel 151 Kia Rio for just under 10k so might stretch it to that. Anybody have any experience with them or know if they're any use?

I bought a 161 3dr 1.2 petrol one from the north by private sale. My other half is learning to drive and I didn't have to commute so I sold my big car. It still has warranty left on it and any other parts are cheap. Like it's not going to set the world alight but it is super reliable and very economical to run. For all the driving I do now that suits me. Average 50mpg with fuel consumption.

Cost me about 6200 euro including vrt. I got a great deal as the fella was in need of a quick sale.

How many of you are there that will be using it? The back seat is small and while I've not had anyone sit it for any extended time it doesnt look the most comfortable. The boot is actually a decent size though for a car so small.

What has now made you look at the diesel over the petrol version? Does your mileage and driving style warranty a diesel car?
