There's a small tree growing inside a gable wall on one side of my garden
. About 15ft up in height.
I cut it down, I left the stump , about 2 inch wide x5 inchs long
How do I remove the stump, under the tree there's a crack about 2cm wide,
    Length 14 cm approx
If I just remove the stump how do I fill in the hole and the cracks in the wall.
Eg use silicone or some type of water proof material?
Is there a simple premixed compound I can use.
This wall is outside . It needs to be sealed and weatherproof

I, ll post pics later after 2 pm

Well let's say I have a hole in the wall
    2 inch x 1 inch
1.5 inch deep how do I fill it in.
Is there a premixed compound I can buy
Preferably the material should be waterproof
I saw a grey compound like silicone
It could be injected into wood or stone
Or plastic and it would fill the space
    and it can be painted
    It's waterproof
Do I drill it out or remove with with a wood chisel

Is this your wall or your neighbours?

If this is related to the thread earlier in the week, cutting trees in someone else's gutter was foolish, trying to repair their wall would be idiotic!

No its in my own wall,
It's up to my neighbour to repair his own wall as he sees fit
    That's not my job

I have tree stump in a brick wall i cut it back as much as I can, it's between 2 bricks
I'll have to remove it and repoint the wall
At least 4ft each side of the tree stump
And seal it all around to make it waterproof

Depending on the size of the "stump" and roots basically, ? First off make sure it's completely dead ,

How old is the brick work ,? Is it brick ,block or stone ? Could it be lime mortar ?

I really woodn't rush to do anything. Let the roots dry right out and shrink before you do anything. No point repointing only to find the brickwork moves again as anything left behind dries out. Really can't see it making the house any less waterproof. Water will run off down the wall.

Wake me up when it's all over.

Wall is old, 80 plus years approx,
    Brick red, 5x 3 inch approx ,
As in 90 per cent of old houses
    in the liberty's, rathmines,
Brick and mortar maybe built in
    1930
Mortar looks red or grey it varys
I could just cut tree flat to line up with
The bricks , right now it sticks out
about 2 inches from the wall
    Wall has zero insulation,
    Just 1 layer of bricks
Wall has 1 inch layer of plaster
    Outside
The plaster fell down about in a 5ft
    Radius of the tree
Tree is about 5 ft above the ground
    Level
At some point i, ll repoint the wall
and maybe replace all the plaster
    That fell off the wall
Eg maybe 7 x5 ft area of plaster
Is gone all bricks are OK
Apart from tree in the wall between 2
    bricks it's not growing
    There's just a stump there
Is there a chemical or compound
I could put on the tree to stop it growing
Should I cut it flat to line up with
    The bricks around it.?

I don't know what mortar they used in 1930,
Could be lime. Some mortar is red eg not very hard, it looks very dry, I can press my finger tip
Into the red mortar about 1 tenth of a centimeter

Usually if you can stick your fingers like that ,and it's softish .. it's gonna be lime ..( or just ancient weak cement ) , so when your going to repoint use lime again , and the plaster the same , which could also be lime .
I think in a single skin wall like that ,the plaster is quite important in keeping moisture out ..
Find a builder who's used to working with lime .. and ask them ...

Sorry my mistake some of the bricks are red,
    Some bricks are grey,
All the mortar I can see is grey or white, I can see an area outside 6x7 ft approx
The area where the old plaster is gone.
Is there a way I can remove the tree stump
Safely or should I just cut it in line with the bricks beside it . Is there a chemical I can put on it to stop it growing
