Does this AC/DC plug contain a fuse?

    Hi All

See attached AC/DC plug which is from an android box I have been using for approx 4-5 years at this stage. Yesterday I noticed the box could not be turned on. I'm not sure whether the box itself is dead or if there is some problem with the plug.

I don't have a similar plug in the house that I could use in order to determine where the problem is. As a result I screwed open the plug to see if there was maybe a fuse that I could replace. However, all I found was a mini electrical board with no obvious fuse that could be replaced.

Does anyone happen to know what the problem may be and if the plug in question contains a fuse?

    Many thanks!

I don't have x-ray vision (and suspect it wouldn't work on a photo)

There may or may not be a fuse depending on the quality of construction, but probably not one that you would have available anyway.

Fuses usually only blow in the event of a fault, even if there is a fuse do you know what caused it to blow?

    (I see it's 5V 2A, possibly similar to an Ipad charger's output??)

Could be a number of things è.g. Diode, transformer , capacitor etc. Best to replace it unless you feel competent to attempt a repair. Unlikely to contain a fuse imho.

Hi, sorry see attached photo where I have opened up the plug.

I don't know what caused this issue, there was no power cut etc.

The cable attached to the plug is not a match for the multiple apple or android devices that I have around the house.

Get an adaptor off something else with the same voltage and plug, a modem may have the same type.

Is there any voltage on the DC plug?

“Output: 5V DC 2A” is written on the plug

I saw that, what I meant was did you measure the voltage?

I don’t have one of those devices for measuring voltage...

Not much checking you can do then.

Perhaps look carefully at the fuse to see if it has blown, if it has just buy a new power supply. (But your box could still blow the next power supply too if it was the cause of the original failure)

FYI: I managed to find a spare adaptor and the android box is working fine. Thanks for all the replies
