I know repair and parts sales are allowed to remain open but are dealers that only sell cars not repair able to stay open?

Garages open for repairs and service but not sales I think.
Probably couldn’t come at a worse time of year.

I think they have pretty much wrote off this year anyway regarding new car sales and will try a big push for 2021 when they reopen. I'd say second hand sales will pick up again too same as the last lockdown. With Brexit on the horizon at the end of the year and new VRT rates I'd say second hand values here will increase with the cost of importing from the UK becoming less attractive.

Agreed this is the time of year serious punters lock down orders for factory builds for January delivery...I know somebody who placed a deposit a month ago for a factory build order..they read the tax strategy document in advance of the budget and was happy the impact on their car would be modest...they now have a new interest in checking COVID figures in Germany!

A lot of car sales will be open, but from behind closed doors.

Can operate via online means, and collections and deliveries are still allowed - just no going in to the dealership.

Won't be anywhere near as busy as it would usually be at this time of year, but still able to take orders for 2021 deliveries.

i agreed a buy of a new car last week - with car due end of next week.
Have been on to the dealer but waiting to hear back from them. From what I gather, ther worry at the moment is whether the car I have bought is going to be delivered to them, so that they could quickly hand it over to me. I am supposed to be hearing from them any minute....
