just found this thread cos my car - 2012 octavia 1.2TSi, 100k on the clock - showed an oil warning light this morning, so i checked it, and it *is* low (below the stated minimum on the dipstick). i last had it serviced just before lockdown, maybe 5000km ago; and never had an issue with the oil warning before now. so it's definitely burning more oil than usual, unless it wasn't properly topped up with that service.
i've read elsewhere about topping the oil up and doing an italian tuneup, but i don't get the logic of that? it seems to suggest that sedate driving (and i'm far from an aggressive driver) can cause this issue?

I'd top it up to full and drive again and check after 1000kms to eliminate not being refilled correctly.

The chain driven 1.2 TSi's were always fond of a sup of oil but it never seems to be an issue for them. A few top up's between services is usually the norm, which i wouldn't worry too much about. They don't hold very much, 3.5 litres iirc.

Some early versions of the belt driven 1.2 TSi from MY13 onwards had very heavy oil consumption issues from early on and needed replacement piston rings and in some cases valve stem seals too. Some engines were ok, others weren't, something is telling me it was the Polish built engines were the issue and you can tell that by your engine number. You'd seem them burn a litre or more or just 4 or 500 kms.
