Celica panels re-spray

    Hi folks,

Curious to know if anyone has a ballpark figure for getting a respray to a 2006 Celica. It would be the passenger door and rear quarter panel (which extends up over the window). I've attached a pic of the car in question, albeit it the wrong side.

The paint damage on the passenger side was done (apparently) by an over keen car cleaning enthusiast. It's badly scored and scratched and feels very rough to the touch.

I've only recently acquired the car and it didn't cost a great deal so I'm wondering if it would even be worth doing. And if so, how much and where to get done? Dublin based here. Thanks a mill

I'd say circa €2k to €4k depending on whether you are going same colour or new colour and what level of deconstruction the sprayer needs to bring it to their level of quality.

What?! That much yeah? Obviously naively but was hoping for around three to four hundred. The car is silver which negates the impact of the damage somewhat. Thank you!

The price of the paint might be €100 or so, it's the labour involved where the cost is, parts need to be stripped out and protected against overspray, it's a big job to do it properly.

Conscious of that cheers, will send a passenger side pic tomorrow. Drivers side is fine as is the rest of the car. Just those two panel that need addressing.

I'm not sure what is determined bad in paintwork terms but the scratches and scores are filled with an almost black tint. They're deeper than a normal scratch but aren't gouged into the body either. Probably should have waited to get a picture before posing the question

Sorry I may have misunderstood, I was talking a complete respray. A few panels should only be a couple of hundred.

What engine have you got? Always had a soft spot for the Celica.

I would loved to have said the Yamaha tuned VVVTL-I but, alas, nah. It's the boggo 140 6 speed. Insurance dictated so plus there were/are no post 2005 190s for sale on DD a few back when I took the plunge.

That being said, I'm delighted with it. Ample power for me, gearbox, handling and steering are a joy. 37 mpg doing a proper mileage test (brim tank, deduct litres used), and that was with heavy air con usage, It's a UK Premium Blue with factory rear sensors. Will cruise happily at 120km/h in sixth at less than 3k revs.
