If the past 9 months had been different and this pandemic never happened, I wonder what the main topic of discussion/moaning would be at the moment in After Hours....apart form Brexit of course?

Words like Coronavirus, new normal, Tony Houlihan, social distancing and lockdown would not be used 1000 times a day and the country wouldn't be hanging on for the 6pm latest figures of dread every day.

What a different place it could be??

I'd still be in Helsinki getting drunk after the Ireland game

    Ms

Oh I am sure there would be something big another health or politics scandal no doubt here and climate change and the price of fuel would be sky high and Trump would be doing something stupid and the,American election and who knows what else. The only way to know for sure is to slide to the alternate reality the one that did not end up getting Covidand a Pandemic like ours.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Well if you think of the concept of parallel universes, things are playing out very differently right now in another dimension.

I don't think I'd have used the phrase 'it is what is' a tenth as much.

Micheal and Leo would be in the final stages of training for a white collar fight for leadership

The tiger would be going through the roof, the carbon footprint would be centre-stage and fuel prices through the roof as someone mentioned previously. There would be no such thing as a 'wet pub'

If our own universe is infinite in size, there are an infinite number of planets the exact same as ours in every detail up until the point Covid 19 jumped to humans, but then that one thing didn’t happen, and they’re now going on without it, with the infinite number of alternate historical trajectories possible. There’s also an infinite number of planets where all of (their) humanity got wiped out by something much worse.

After just scraping through to the Euros, in which they went on to beat Engalnd in the quarter finals in Dublin, only to be knocked out by France in the Semi final by another "hand of frog" incident. FAI calls for VAR to be banned and have the final be played with 3 teams, with Ireland as the extra third team.

So theres some version of our universe where Boards was never developed.......scary stuff.

Every day this last few years there has been exactly the right amount of news to fill the news bulletins and newspapers. I expect that would have been the case without Covid.

Not a version of our universe - the planets would be actually in our universe. And not just one, but an infinite number of them. And also an infinite number where Boards became the predominant form of mass communication on the whole planet, and Facebook and Reddit never took off.

I wonder how the Trump and Brexit campaigns would have performed in a universe without social media.

It would have been the usual but with Brexit bearing the brunt of insipid and "get the hell on with it" political discourse, the political machinations dominating domestic politics after the stalemate general election and the embarrassing spectre of a likely second term for Trump with the BLM movement being the big talking point in the US.

Sport would have continued and we would, in particular, get a kick out of the Euro and Olympic social media memes and antics.

Is there a world where Bubbles became head of Boards?
