The always watchable Alan Tudyk stars as Harry from Dark Horse comics Resident Alien.
Harry, an alien played by Alan Tudyk (“Rogue One,” “Firefly”) that crash lands on Earth and passes himself off as a small-town human doctor. Arriving with a secret mission to kill all humans, Harry starts off living a simple life… but things get a bit rocky when he’s roped into solving a local murder and realizes he needs to assimilate into his new world. As he does so, he begins to wrestle with the moral dilemma of his mission and asking the big life questions like: “Are human beings worth saving?” and “Why do they fold their pizza before eating it?”

    Starts in January

    The opening 7 minutes trailer.

The premise looks like a solid deviation on the trope of "newcomer aclimitises to small town American life, and learns Important Lessons along the way". Can't get a handle on what the tone is going to be here; thing is, it's SyFy, so I _immediately_ presume this will be cancelled after 5 episodes if it's not a hit from the get-go.

Didn't realise there was a thread for it, as we said in the off topic thread, definitely has a darker edge than trailer suggested. I'll stick with it too, plenty going on and some funny bits in it.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

The same here. Was very impressed after the first 7 or 8 minutes and it had not even gotten funny yet but when it did buy was it funny. Also I loved the
Pub scene and also the fact the showed what he was actually like quite early on in the episode
I was really expecting this to be crap but was pleasantly surprised. Hope it can keep it up.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Alan Tudyk's deadpan delivery definitely helps with the humour part of it

I have to say I was impressed with with a nice dark humour.

The second episode a bit of a let down. Definitely not as funny as the first episode. It looks like the kid and alien thing is going to run for a while. The bowling alley but was predictable. I did however enjoy seeing the part about him trying to get used to a human body and the cow part was funny too.still could have been better. Hopefully the next few episodes are.

Third episode much better than the second one thankfully. Hopefully it can keep even that good. The second episode just felt so forced anytime they tried to make it funny but the first and third episodes were spot on.
Him trying to sleep lol just brilliant

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

How long until he and the kid team up? Maybe to stop the guys from the end of the episode

    Forever. Not a hope
The kid hates him. I do not know why? How cool would it been the only one in a town able to see an Alien. If I was a kid and could I would be stuck to the alien asking a million questions lol.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

I have to say I am really enjoying this and loving the humour in it.

    The Cheers opening was great.

Not many comedies make me laugh (coz they're crap) but this one certainly does

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,561 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

If there's one character I would want less of, it's Darcy. Either give her less scenes or have her toned down.

Maybe I don't understand basketball, but how do you score for the other team if just playing with one hoop?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,282 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

With the basketball scene I assumed one team tries to score while the other team tries to stop them

I really enjoy this show especially with how the humour is used like that law and order bit

The alien hunter woman reminded me of Stana Katic. Or a cross between Stana and Rachel Leigh Cooke

Episode 4 not the best or the worst
Just not many laughs in it and some did not hit the mark or were very forced. Still the bit with the two of them looking at the stars and him talking and thinking about his home planet was good.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Alan's facial gymnastics are very well done in showing someone clueless trying to fit in.
It's nowhere near 3rd Rock from the Sun's hilarity,
I wouldnt go further than saying it is amusing. There were a lot of standard well-worn romcom jealousy tropes in ep4 which left me cold.

is there going to be another series?

So now I find out there's a censored and uncensored version
    Censored:
    "Are you with me man?"
Spoken: "No of course not" Thought: "Chicken a$$ b!tch"

    Uncensored
"Are you f**king with me man?"
Spoken: "No of course not" Thought: "I'm definitely f**king with him"

    Which version airs here?
