    Hi All

What is folks opinion on these cars . They seem cheap for what’s on offer.

They come in 2 different engines , 2.0 and 1.5 diesel - is there anything specific to look for with both?.

I’ve seen some models with an electric handbrake ( never had a car with this before). I hear they are trouble in some cars – is this the case with the Laguna.

Also think of trying an automatic . Would the auto boxes be reliable in a Renault.

    Thanks

They were a good car but they are getting old now, the newest ones would be approaching 8 or 9 years old at this point and there are alot of tired old dogs out there. Try and find a cared for one owned by the same keeper for a good few years with a decent service history. 2.0 litre would be the obvious choice over the 1.5 litre as it's more powerful in a car that size but they are much rarer to find. All but the base trim model would have had an electronic parking brake, it's practically standard tech these days but back then it was relatively new so like any new tech it can give problems in it's early days. I've no idea on the reliability of the automatics but I think Renault used a dual clutch auto in them.

I have a 2.0 Coupe atm (I'm doing mobile hairdressing now) only have it about a month but covering about 120KM, they are very comfy and even though mine has covered 175k miles it has no rattles or bangs!

Downside is it's thirsty enough even taking it handy I'm only getting mid forties plus tax is 750 P/A as it's 172 CO2..

I'd still recommend one though as I still have Leather, cruise, Xenons , keyless entry etc..

The coupe version is a great looking car.

Tax seems very high on yours - is it an auto your driving ?

I saw a hatchback for sale with the 2.0 engine and it was only €270 per year . I assumed they were all along the same lines but that doesn't seem to be the case.

The 2.0 litre was available in 150bhp and 180bhp. The 150bhp had lower Co2.
