Not like Bolger to faff around. His entry is very intriguing. 28/1 tonight 4 places, has to have a chance?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 858 ✭✭✭Plasandrunt

He might be fav but Secret Investor is still a big price imo at Chepstow tomorrow, won the Persian war 2 years ago so has course form, will love the good ground and Nicholls's horses on fire at the moment.

A repeat of his very good 2nd to Native River in the Denman chase last time out he'll be hard to beat.

Great spot.. Jim won 4 Dewhursts and sent very few horses over to get those wins. If he sends something over for it he normally means business with them.

It's a hot race where it should take a star to win it. I've backed Wembley for it only because I said on here that he was the horse to take from the Irish National Stakes.

I doubt though that he's a star in the making so I don't fancy my chances tomorrow 😁

The other one I can't get away from is Indianapolis in the Cesarewitch. Won on heavy before, needs to find a bit but as an entry it sticks out. Francesco steering.

Well bred anyway and the only entry for James Given tomorrow, I would hate to not have a fiver each way there.

Also Mukha Magic for the babe Kelleway around 80's 7 places. That thing has been withdrawn by the vets more times an hour before a race for me to be that comfortable with. I am not losing my incisors over that if it hacks up either. They jogged it out at Kempton the other night. It was just behind who Dares wins which was thrown in at Ascot in the stayers race. Has to have a chance.

While I am chasing up Garryowens I also think that Fergal O'Brien's in the novice chase at Chepstow is the wrong price.

    Also Dalton Highway. ew.

    5 actually.

Incidentally, Poetic Flare's sire and damsire were both Dewhurst winners.

Ive gone for the Bolger horse Poetic Flare too.My Cesarewitch pick is Vis A Vis , hes my pick at the weights, lightly raced and comes off two poor runs,so hopeful pick more than anything.
In the Coral Sprint Trophy I like Desert Safari.

I'd have made agent zero near favourite today 2.59 Limerick. This doesn't appear to have too much strength in depth and he has shown enough to suggest he will win this year. He bumped into a really well handicapped Ecoeye when second over this trip at Roscommon a few runs back (ecoeye a good second since), with Lady Savannah in third who won since. That was off a mark of 57, was a good third to Treble Cone at Cork two starts back who had been punted big time when disappointing at Naas the time before but the second horse Pulsating came into the race in good form too
He disappointed the last day but those were open age handicaps he was running in and he's back to seven today and into a three year old only handicap. His stable mate is under half the price of him but I'd say Sheridan got first choice too and he rides this one. Should outrun his odds widely 16/1

Dewhurst is a hot race, Whoever wins it will be a star. Thunder moon has looked classy at the Curragh but I really like Hannon's second string Etonian and will take him at a price.

Meades in the last in FH might go nicely. Has a run under the belt and stable having plenty of winners recently.

I don't know what to make of the racing today. From a non betting wise situation you can appreciate it, but from a betting perspective, it's not great in my opinion. Still a fair few opportunities but nothing to get excited about.

12.25 Hexam, Glorious Lady, horse is around 9/2 fav, but looks to be a false favourite. I don't think it will be in the first 3. Laying 3 places @ around 11/8 - 6/4'ish

12.50 Limerick, Improving, around 7/4 - 13/8 and a bit of a gamble doing down on the horse. I don't think it will win. Lay bet for me.

12.55 Hexham, Train Hill, I don't think the horse will be in the first 3. Laying 3 places @ around 5/2 - 11/4

1.10 Newmarket, Onaragtrip. Not liking the horse in this race at all, can't see it being in the first 3 places. Laying 3 places @ around 7/4'ish give or take.

1.20 Limerick, The Piano Player, lay bet for me. The horse is around 5/2 -11/4 but not liking it at all in the race. In theory, if this horse was taken out, the fav in the race would be very very short. The fav will probably win the race but I don't have the confidence to back it. Just the lay on The Piano Player for me.

2.28 Hexham, Scene Not Herd, horse is a short false fav in my opinion. Currently priced around 5/6 and a lay bet for me, can't see it winning and my best bet of the day. Strong lay bet.

2.55 Newmarket, Thunder Moon, around 5/2 Strong lay bet for me. I don't think the horse will win today.
In the same race, I've had a few bob E.W on Wembley @ around 12/1 and 11/1. I think Moore will get a good tune out of the horse and it'll go close.

3.15 Fairyhouse, Queens Brook, very short at around 2/7 but nothing in the race, horse should win in a procession. I've already backed Queens Brook to win even at the short odds.

Very busy days racing. Couple more lined up for Chelmsford this evening depending on how the day goes. I'm fairly confident it should be a decent days profits.

Good luck to anyone betting today.

2:35 - Chatez at 18/1 looks the value here. Dropped down the weight this season, last run at Newbury showed it is just starting to get competitive at this level and I think the soft ground should be in its favour.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,191 ✭✭✭SonOfGoat

Late win bet for me. I was mulling over this all morning but have decided to back the horse

2.00 York, Legal Attack. Around 2/1. I've backed it to win. Looks a 2 horse race between Legal Attack and Regional. Legal Attack is very temperamental and will always just do enough if it can. My worry is Regional kicks clear and won't be caught. But saying that, the soft ground should be the deciding factor here. I expect Regional to try and kick on/clear but will be caught be Legal attack, but a nervous short victory might be on the cards.

I'll try Tactical in the Dewhurst. 50/1 on 365 each way.
Won the Windsor stakes at Royal Ascot over 5F but they must like him to go further since they keep upping him in trip. Oisin on board is always a plus.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,474 ✭✭✭longshotvalue

I’ve seen way worse 5/4 shots than Grand Sauncy. Much higher class than fav . Looks 4/7 to me. That said what would I know

Missed the sexy prices on GWS but must be significant he's Mullins' only runner.

At the prices, I'm going to take a long ranger on Cleont for Balding. Placed in the race a few years ago and won at Royal Ascot afterwards. Lots to prove, form tailed off a bit but taking a chance they've aimed him at this and last run was massively needed. Small each way at 40s with 6 places.

If I had the cash to buy a horse, there really is only one man I'd be going to: Willie Mullins. Year after year, Cheltenham to Punchestown to Royal Ascot to Newmarket. Winner after winner. He is an absolute genius with these horses.

Its all a bit odd for me. When you can win the Caesarawitch 3 years on the bounce its just bizarre. That used to be a "throw a dart" at the paper race.

Lucy van pelt catching my eye in the bumper at Fairyhouse. A runner for a small yard who you'd imagine will improve for debut 3rd (bottomless ground that day and todays better ground should be more in its favor). Looking at the the fav it's represents a good yard and is from a good family but it cost 10k at the derby sales and that's concerning considering it's page, you'd have expected it to make alot more so physically it may not be ticking alot of boxs. It drifting so becoming more and more of an e/w play.

Few minor bets to finish off the day.

6.30 Chelmsford, Azets. Can't see the horse being in the first 3. Laying 3 places @ around 15/8'ish.

7pm Chelmsford, Recall the show. I don't give the horse much of a chance. Laying 3 places @ around 7/2 -4/1. Not an ideal price but in honesty, the horse hasn't a hope of being placed.

8pm Chelmsford, Power of States. Horse won't get a better chance to win. Backed to win @ around 2/1 - 15/8

    8.30 Chelmsford, Sheila. Horse looks to be a false fav. Laying @ around 15/8 - 2/1 - 9/4.

Hope to pick up a few quid on these races. Racing wasn't the best today.

The judgement of some of these clowns on horse back never ceases to annoy me. They'll ride a horse passively for a mile and a half. The horse might be 11th or 12th. Suddenly the horse is being pushed and has to navigate soft ground and a dozen horses in front of it. So it has to go even wider to try and compete as the gaps don't open until it's too late. Keep the ****ing horse 5th or 6th. If it doesn't like the rail then you have to go wide. If it can't track the leaders pace then it shouldn't be in the race. By holding it back the leaders are being given 5 or 6 lengths. Utter stupidity.

What if everyone wants to be in 5th or 6th? Endless canter then sprint farce races like most French racing?
