Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Although Lough Eske is down the road from where I grew up, I will have to vote slieve league, just stunning

Doagh famine village. The lad doing the tours is a character, and it's my only chance of seeing the inside of an orange hall. Also have to say, Fanad lighthouse is overrated, don't see the appeal at all.

Malin Head is the single most underwhelming place in Ireland.

    Slieve League

    Piss-poor selection all-around, alas.

    Away outa that

Slieve League - I'd like to see them all, but I'd go here first

    Slieve League

Just because of its sheer natural beauty.

  • Registered Users Posts: 779 ✭✭✭ChannelNo5

This one is really difficult. Im going to go for
    Grianan of Aileach

Our ancestors spilled their blood, sweat and tears erecting that beaut.

Grianan of Aileach ; hard not to be awestruck simply looking at a picture of that. Definitely somewhere I want to go see in person.

Grianan of Aileach for me please

    Like Newgrange, only much better.
Amazing to think how it was made up there, cracking views too

I like the cliffs and all, but they're not that different to a lot of Donegal scenery

Slieve League for me, one of the most stunning places Ive been, not just in Ireland but the world.

The view from atop looking down to the blue waters, wow

Grianan an Aileach - just because I've been there and actually seen it

You know it's true. Newgrange is mostly new built, how they imagined it would be, and full of tourists. The Grianan is so much nicer

Grianan was rebuilt a few times too. Great place for a visit, but very windy spot!

I like them all (nominated three).

Gonna go with Dundrum Castle though, something ominous about it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 779 ✭✭✭ChannelNo5

Now I can vote for Scrabo Tower

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,503 ✭✭✭✭Also Starring LeVar Burton

Scrabo Tower ; towers are sweet

Scrabo for me - I'm a sucker for towers, love climbing them and having great views

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,868 ✭✭✭JohnGreenFan

I like the look of Scrabo tower. So I'll vote for that.

But as landmarks go... I've never heard or seen photos of any of these. Nor would I have had any clue where they were!

Mount Stewart - have a bit of a thing for those old formal gardens

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,453 ✭✭✭✭Kolido

I will vote for Dundrum Castle, sounds to have had an impressive history.

I'm guessing that many haven't actually visited it, photos never do it justice, amazing place.

I'm gonna blow it up early, Scrabo won't be caught here.

That is gonna conclude the action for this evening. As it stands, we have 9 of our county contenders entered into the All-Ireland stage. Tomorrow we will begin with a big hitter in the form of County Dublin. Major thanks to everyone who has participated and followed along, hope to see you back tomorrow!
