Clerical officer interview

Well my 1-page CV managed to get me an interview at least :-)

So now I'm curious as to what to expect.
Would anybody have any experience of this and could let me know?

It's for a job in a secondary school.

Also if anybody had time, I would be very grateful for a quick overview how civil service recruitment works. I often see posts on here about 'campaigns' but this job (and another I applied for) were advertised standalone, one requiring a CV, the other an online application form. Is it just that the clerical officer roles are different as they are entry level?

Also (last question!) is the clerical officer role really basic or could there be a bit more to it? If I though it was literally going to be filing and typing and nothing else at all I might not be the right fit.

    Thank you!

Look at the competencies the role is based on. Do you have that information?

Good point. I have the JD so will study that before the interview.

It's all "give me an example of a time when you showed [competency]"

You have six minutes each to sell yourself on each competency.

It can be anything from receptionist or car park attendant to programmer, tax inspector or legal assistant. and at the moment, contract tracer or border patrol/customs.

That sounds very structured for a role like this.
The job is in a school, not a generic clerical officer role.

What do you know about the school? Ethics, policies, etc? Have you read through their website?

Sorry that could be different then. The standardised hiring process only completely applies to roles being filled by PAS. Other orginisations use bits of it but not always. I can't think of what a CO could be doing in a school other than secretary/receptionist or some sort of facilities management maybe.
