took a detour over christmas to the Ferrari museum in Maranello - here is a pic of a Monza SP2 - but unfortunately photography wasn’t allowed when doing a tour around the factory - would have loved to have gotten a pic of 6 brand new F80’s waiting to be delivered. If you are in the area it is a great visit to do.

Spotted in Bray earlier today, first time seeing a new 4 in the flesh.

I didn't get a look at the front, and the weather was crappy - not as striking as the 5 at first look, but i've always had a soft spot for both of the originals.

Golf GTI Edition 50. 325bhp. Just under €73,000 standard.

Probably get S3 for about that ?

you’d get an S3 for less would you believe - €68,240 plus delivery. I specced up a GTI 50 to what I’d want and it was €82,000. You can add a performance pack which is €5,700 but you’ve to add Bridgestone semi slicks to get it for another €1,400. Great for a track, not so great in all other times.

Too much for a golf . Knew someone who went from previous model Golf R to an S3 . He then trades S3 for a secondhand range rover sport . I do remember the land rover dealer had the S3 for a fair while

    It’s gorgeous in fairness.

I just feel like hot hatches have now moved to the middle-aged, away from the 20-40 year olds - and the middle-aged people like me with gti money to spend are now buying ID3 GTX’s with their sensible hat on for €39k.

nostalgia - in 2010 I bought a 2006 3-door mk5 gti in grey, with every important option (dsg, Vienna leather, aircon), and a set of gorgeous BBS alloys, for €13.5k :) The receipt price of the car in 2006 was a bonkers €40k 😳

Nice, very deep green and will look different in bright weather but it lashed all rain. The red is nice too but it’s just been so done. Standard wheels are a bit meh with the red on them.

They haven't gone up much in price since so if a GTi cost 40k in 2006. 40k in 2006 is 61k in todays money.

a top spec was €40k yep. Dsg was new at the time and it was mechanical witchcraft - the car had the original receipt in the glovebox when I bought it.
one of the best cars I’ve ever owned, but now I see Golf Gti’s and id3 GTx’s as being much the same tools, for about half the price, and yes for sure half the emotion.
there are €90k golf R’s listed ad’s for example. You’d genuinely need your head examined.

in 2015 I bought a new golf GTI performance model, adding metallic and leather. They had a free tech pack included at the time and three free services. I got 3k discount as no trade in. I paid just over 39k. PCP was on offer at 0.9% too.

I thought it was a good deal at the time but in hindsight when I see performance golf prices now, it was spectacular value.

VW were going through the whole diesel gate emissions scandal and desperate to shift metal at the time.

Nice except for zv reg . If it was bought new here in 1988 or 1990 here it would say 88 D etc why would someone got a reg that makes car look older than it is ?

The answer to that is obvious - they didn't want the inexplicably high registration number that would have been assigned to the car if they opted for the year and county format. Both options look terrible on cars of this vintage. The ZV, less so.

It's only in Dubliin that no. Is high and still think it looks better than zv

Love em. Sad how citroen have fallen so much, still don't understand how irish buyers are so into Peugeot but not citroen

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,531 ✭✭✭GavPJ

Both Citroen and Peugeot have fallen to pieces. I've driven Citroen/Peugeot all my life but won't be

having another one. Anything after 2014 (ish) is just problematic.
