Maternity Benefit & New Job

    Hi,

Looking for some advise, I am currently applying for a new job however I am curious about the maternity benefit if I were to be successful in the role. Does each company set out its own criteria for how long you must be in a position before the company will pay your maternity benefit? I called HR for the company I am applying too but they were 100% sure.

I do not want to leave a job i've been in for 6 years and would get full maternity benefit in, if I am not going to get it in a new position.

    Thanks

Edited to add that I am not currently expecting

    Yes.

Companies in Ireland do not have to pay you while you are on maternity leave.
The government will pay you if you have enough PRSI contributions, it doesn't matter from which employer.

As above, it is company specific. Some places pay full maternity, dome half and (in my case) some don't pay at all but I got the state benefit of €245 per week. Most places that pay would stipulate that you are in a role X amount of time before being eligible and some places even have in your contract that you must return from maternity leave for a certain amount of time before you can leave the company without owing money back.
