    Truely horrible this one.

Journalist tweets that if you vote for Trump you must unfollow her.

A team U S cyclist sends her an emoji waving goodbye. He gets banned. They say he was using a blackface emoji because the goodbye hand was a brown.

Is this getting rediculous now. When did we decide that you have to vote liberal or else you need to be chased from your job?

The use of a black emoji by a white person online has been equated with blackface, showing a lack of racial awareness and temporarily adopting a racial identity.

I used a black faced emoji the other day because I was talking about Serena Williams - it was a black Woman with a crown, should I start clearing my desk ??? I was trying to be respectful and accurate!

My friend always uses brown emojis even though she is white because her husband and son are Hispanic ("brown" is how her husband and his family describe themselves, thats why I called it that) and it represents her family. I guess she's actually racist now though.

I don't know if he's any good but it if he is it won't be the end of his career. It is an American team, so they have to go the woke route. The European Teams couldn't give a rats. Some media circles were trying to insert the BLM narrative into the Tour De France this year and they were ignored.

The Dutch, French, Spanish, Italians etc don't give a toss about identity politics. It's a ruthless sport, win at all costs.

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

He is suspended from his trade team not the Olympics so the OP is wrong.
And it was after they asked his to cease tweeting about it as per his contract guidelines and he refused to that he was suspended. Also this is only the first thing the public saw but maybe the team had words before the people close to him probably know this isn't an isolated tweet

Lefties really need to get their house in order and focus on income inequality, economic theory, and the environment.

All this other stuff seems like a Trojan Horse tbh.

One hundred percent mate. This stuff isn’t even particularly left wing or class politics and nor does it address the system of capitalism and its effects. It’s basically rampant postmodernism - a type of thinking that lies in American university identity politics. The people who believe in this stuff constantly use the word “systemic” but yet their focus is always on individual transgression accompanied by a belief in an almost ‘original sin’ where instead of racism being a societal problem which should be overcome by solidarity, we have to focus on calling Barry the Binman a privileged racist who should be flagellating himself.

The vast majority of the woke stuff presents no threat to the status quo. There’s a reason Jeff Bezos will fly the Afrika flag for BLM or corporations will host a black history month; ask these people to pay more taxes and they’re likely to fund a coup. Ben and Jerry’s are another example, all over BLM but hired union busters with a view to stop their majority black and Latino workforce organising to get a pay rise. It’s easily co-opted by the rich because despite all of the shouting and roaring, it really changes nothing.

The rise of this politics and its association with the left has chronically hamstrung the ability of the left to relate to ordinary people, to focus on the big issues and to build effective organisations. Huge swathes of the working class look at the left as not being something for them now, and they’re not wrong to think that.

I’ve seen these characters wreck unions and left groups from the inside out with their nonsense, the CIA couldn’t have done a better job themselves.

Basically the bulk of the left is now unconcerned with actually organising ordinary people. They’re far more interested in creating and maintaining a subculture policed by an increasingly acane jargon and set of values with everyone sh*t scared to point out basic realities because they’ll be mobbed and tarred a racist or a transphobe or whatever is flavour of the month. An atmosphere of virtue signalling, bad faith, bullying and burnout exists.

I work as a trade union organiser and if you sent half of these characters into a binman depot or a bus garage they’d be completely and utterly unable to relate to anyone in there. In 2017 I organised hundreds of African cleaners in London, do you think any of them gave a sh*te about multiple genders and privilege theory and all that rubbish? They did in their holes. They wanted decent treatment and were happy to work with black, white and Arab to achieve it.

Lefties really need to get their house in order and focus on income inequality, economic theory, and the environment.

I would argue that it is the left, and only the left, who focus on those three things.

Is this getting rediculous now. When did we decide that you have to vote liberal or else you need to be chased from your job?

We didn't. In fact, nobody did. Your implying, both in the OP and in the thread title, that this man has been targeted because he is voting for Trump. That is not the case. No matter how ridiculous the emoji nonsense is (and it is ridiculous nonsense), he's not being kicked off the team for his voting record. If I robbed a bank wearing a MAGA hat would you claim I was being jailed for being a Republican? No, because the political element is just a sideshow to the main event. Same here.
Who f*cking cares? Seriously do you go out looking to find these things so you can get offended by people being offended? I swear you're as bad as each other.

Bingo. People (on both sides of the left / right divide) are trying to outdo themselves in terms of being lightning rods for attracting offense. Those thinking that a brown hand = blackface are guilty of it. Those claiming they're outraged by all of this are also guilty of it.

The same can be said across multiple examples in today's society. There was a thread yesterday about some clown calling for Boards to be shut down on twitter. The tweet was 3 days old, had been shared twice and retweeted once. It was practically dead, as far as social media relevance goes. Until, of course, some gobdaw started a thread on here about it and it was suddenly revived.

People need to chill TF out and take a step back from the screen, stop being told what is acceptable or not and to form their own opinions. Those being outraged at 'cancel culture' (and ironically seeking to cancel it) are as much a part of the problem as those seeking to cancel everything.

You have various events sponsored by conflicting companies and then you have ones that don't even give money but start adding the word pride to stuff for a week like the M&S LGBT sandwich or Sainsbury's Pride sandwich

    Tighten up university entry requirments.

Not in the top 15% of national IQ ? Well then, choose something else to do with your life.

Kicking all of these fruticakes out of university is the best way to solve the problem. Let them learn a trade and do some proper work.

The Eurosport commentator was losing his **** over it as it transpired that nobody actually gave a **** bar ticking a box and getting on with life.
