Hi, looking at buying a car, not really an expert so thought I'd ask here for any advice /suggestions.

I'm looking for a hatchback or small SUV that's appropriate for new parents (so big boot).

*The main feature I'm interested to hear about is car options with good park assist*

    An automatic engine, hybrid preferred.

Really interested in getting something with good technology - I've already mentioned Park Assist but also adaptive cruise control, rear cameras etc.

Something easy to drive for out and about city driving but could do occasional long journeys (5 hours etc.)

Budget is up to 30k if it has everything, I have my eye on a new car that has all of this, but worried I may have narrowed my search too soon so would look to look at alternatives.

Last note: drivers are not tall and passenger height isn't a concern.

I know you said hatchback but what about an Auris Estate?

You could look at a Toyota Prius that's hybrid not sure of the price do The Toyota Rav4 is also hybrid now but might be above your budget. Or you could go electric if that would suit you and get a Nissan Leaf.
A Dacia Duster is a more conventional option but a good option if you do not care about the badge on your car and it's well priced. Not sure if there is an auto transmission in them do.
If you really want a big boot a Skoda Octavia is a great car and there is an estate with an even bigger boot.
There is loads of choice out there. Ye will just have to do your research and decide what ye like.

    Peace and long life.

Toyota are launching the new Yaris Cross soon that is a small crossover that will sit below the CHR in size. It will be available in hybrid and I'd say 30k should get you into one.

Sorry I probably didn't emphasis it enough, but I'm really looking for options with good park assist and adaptive cruise control.

Currently eyeing up the Ford Puma, I know it's basically a slightly larger Fiesta but it seems to have all the things I'm interested in. Booked a test drive so we'll see how we like it but don't want to go ahead without knowing which of its rivals match the technology for the budget and what other options outside this class I might consider.

The new Peugot 2008 looks decent too, so will look into that one bit again, its a new car and at the top end of the budget.

Not a big fan of the idea of buying a new car though, but not sure I can get the tech feature going with a second hand car , especially because I want also an automatic which don't seem to be as widely available for our budget.

You say new parents, so bring a buggy and see what boot space they actually have. Corolla touring may come in under budget new, dunno if it will have the extras you want

If you want to buy a 2nd hand fairly high spec car the Suzuki Vitara is worth a look. Peugeot 3008, Renault Kadjar and Nissan Qushqui too.
