Selling PC - advice needed

    Hi all,

I built a PC back in March 2019 and it's not gotten half the use I thought it would since. I get by just fine these days on my laptop and have been considering selling it off and having some cash for the PS5 and some games.

I do a lot of selling on Adverts and am considering posting it up there. The problem is I'm so out of the loop I have no idea what it's worth now. Below are the specs from PCSpecialist where I ordered.

FRACTAL FOCUS G BLACK GAMING CASE (Window)
AMD Ryzen 5 2600X Six Core CPU (3.6GHz-4.25GHz)
    ASUS® TUF X470-PLUS GAMING (DDR4, 6Gb/s, CrossFireX)
    16GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR4 2933MHz ~ (2 x 8GB)
6GB NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 2060 - HDMI, DP - VR Ready!
    1TB SEAGATE BARRACUDA SATA-III 3.5" HDD, 6GB/s, 7200RPM, 32MB CACHE
    128GB M.2 2280, SATA 6Gb/s (560MB/R, 467MB/W)
    DVD/BLU-RAY Drive NOT REQUIRED
    CORSAIR 550W TXm SERIES™ SEMI-MODULAR 80 PLUS® GOLD, ULTRA QUIET
ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)
    WIRELESS 802.11N 300Mbps/2.4GHz PCI-E CARD
    MIN. 2 x USB 3.0 & 2 x USB 2.0 PORTS @ BACK PANEL + MIN. 2 FRONT PORTS

If anyone could let me know what kind of price I could expect this to fetch I'd really appreciate it. I do have a monitor that could go with it (25", cost around €150 I believe) and some Creative speakers that were 40 or so.

I'm also unsure on whether or not I should remove the storage drives before selling or just use some software to write over it all and do a fresh install of Windows. I'm hardly conducting any top secret business over here, but I can be a bit paranoid

Decent system that, I can't give you an estimate but someone with more knowledge will I'm sure - but I think you'd be just fine formatting the drives and clean install win 10

I listed my PC for €700 recently and took €600.

    I had the following
    Ryzen 7 1700
    AS Rock AB350 Pro
    Founders Edition RTX2060
    32GB of Crucial Ballistix 3000MHz (2x 16GB)
    500GB Crucial MX500 M2 drive
    EVGA 550W Gold PSU

So the bones of our PCs were very similar. I had loads of offers of between €400 and €500. Was happy enough with the €600.

I'm seeing much lower spec PCs on Adverts going for 600, [lesser cpu and gpu, like 1650 and 1050 cards with no SSD and the like] I would have thought the OP's set up was worth a fair amount more.

look on eBay UK completed sales
most of the money is on gpu card in few months it will be worth a lot less but it's still got valute until people can buy NVidia newer cards

Thanks lads for the responses. Not depreciated as much as I expected in a year and a half which is nice. Would 900 including the drives and monitor be a fair ask then?

I think you could put it up for 900 ex monitor tbh, seen lesser systems go for as much. The 2060 still fetches about 300 used alone.

What kind of monitor is it? 1080p?

Thanks man, good to know. It's this one

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/iiyama-G2530HSU-B1-G-Master-Monitor-FreeSync/dp/B071JH67KN

Price seems to have dropped a bit from when I bought it. It's a lovely screen though, speakers were the weakest point but as I said I'd be throwing in the Creative ones.

I would agree with 700 being a decent aiming point. Maybe 800 as a full set-up with the monitor and accessories.

Basing it on Littlewoods pricing is completely pointless, most people buying on Adverts are more in-tune with what stuff costs new from places like AWD, CCL, OCUK, etc.

These days you can get new pre-built machines with Ryzen 3600, 16GB DDR4, and GTX1660 class cards for €700 brand new......you would barely even get an i3 with a GTX1050 for that cash in Curry's or Littlewoods, for example.
